Membership Benefits

Programs

We encourage all members to regularly attend our monthly chapter meetings to network, expand their knowledge of topical HR issues and become familiar with important resources. Meetings are usually held on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin at 7:30 a.m. with light breakfast and conversation followed by dynamic presentations on today’s "hot" HR topics, all concluding around 9:30 a.m. Most of our programs are approved for recertification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) and through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP.

Scholarships and Awards

The Charles T. Sciotto Award for HR Excellence, administered by HRPCPA through The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, honors a respected HR leader by investing in the growth and development of current and future HR professionals. Through scholarships, professional development support, and recognition awards, the program strengthens the HR field and supports individuals at every stage of their career. Professional Development and Certification

We strongly encourage the pursuit of ongoing professional development. The body of knowledge required to remain effective in the HR field evolves continuously. In addition to coordinating Lunch & Learns targeted toward offering recertification credits, the primary mission of the professional development committee is organizing and facilitating study groups led by subject matter experts to prepare members for the SHRM certification exam and

College Students

We’re committed to advancing the HR profession and developing future members of the workforce through our FREE student membership. Students who are enrolled full-time in a Human Resources degree program, or a degree program with an emphasis in HR are eligible. Note: This membership does not apply to working professionals, who are enrolled in higher education programs.

Community Involvement

Our members serve the community through partnerships with local organizations and entities (i.e., food banks, senior homes & retirement communities, donation centers, clothing drives, etc.) by participating in volunteerism initiatives and networking events.

Legal and Legislative Updates

We encourage our members to be involved in the federal and state legislative and legal processes. Annually, we hold a Legal & Legislative chapter meeting to keep our members apprised of recent legal changes along with updates of current legislation being considered at the Federal & State levels. In 2025, we launched the HR & Legal Risk Mitigation webinar series.

Communications

Members receive regular newsletters with timely information about upcoming programs, events, and legislation, and our web site is updated with current information about the chapter. Members can post HR-related job postings on the Web Site for $50, and can seek out advice from other professionals through email. Social media updates are frequent, and provide an opportunity to connect with us as well as fellow HR professionals.

Diversity

Not only is HRPCPA committed to the traditional objectives of equal opportunity, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belong; but we also enthusiastically seek to promote a diverse membership in terms of the sectors, industries, and organizations in which our members are employed. Our belief is that a diverse membership provides the greatest opportunity for valuable networking and creative thinking.

National Affiliation

Although not a requirement for membership, we encourage all members of HRPCPA to also join the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Membership in SHRM has many benefits that only a national organization with over 350,000 members can provide. If you are interested in joining SHRM, visit http://www.shrm.org/.
