Preparing for the Future of Work Today Even During a Pandemic

Successful organizations need to understand what skills and capabilities will be needed for the future to start preparing the workforce today. Beginning with development of a strategic workforce plan and ending with solutions for the gaps today, we will discuss some solutions the GIANT Company is taking to prepare for their future.

Matt Lutcavage is chief human resources officer of The GIANT Company, an omni-channel grocer known to customers as GIANT, MARTIN’S, GIANT Heirloom Market, GIANT Direct and MARTIN’s Direct that has been proudly serving families across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia since 1923.

At The GIANT Company, Lutcavage leads a best-in-class human resources team, focused on fostering a culture of care and innovation and delivering an enhanced experience for more than 35,000 team members. His areas of responsibility include people strategy, talent management, organizational development, diversity and inclusion, internal communications, change management, training and development and total rewards.

Lutcavage’s tenure with The GIANT Company began in 2012 when he joined as the director of human resources. He was quickly promoted to senior director of human resources for Ahold USA in 2013, where he led the human resources team for the commercial function. In 2015, he was promoted to vice president of human resources for Ahold USA, and then moved back to his GIANT Company roots in early 2018 in his current role.

He earned both his bachelor’s degree and MBA at Bloomsburg University. Lutcavage currently serves on the board of directors for Leadership Harrisburg, the board of directors for Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education Foundation and is an active leader for Boy Scouts of America.

Matt and his family live in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
