Elaine has over 26 years’ experience in employee management and unemployment compensation taxes/claims, a background uniquely suited these fields having retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry and worked for private companies. 


Summary of Presentation

Elaine will give an outline of basic UC process and system, the criteria for different types of separation claims, and address how policies affect claims. She will discuss how to determine whether the company needs representation and why; as well as reviewing the yearly UC Contribution Rate Notice and how to generally read/decipher it.

Elain will uncover how much a claim can really cost a company, and discuss the purpose of audits and generally what they are trying to uncover. Then using strategies to effectively determine whether workers should be independent contractors or employees. 

This presentation will count for 1 hour HRCI/SHRM credit.
